I love this immune support smoothie recipe is because it’s delicious, low in added sugar (except if you use vanilla yogurt) and supplies the body with vitamins C, D and zinc, which are proven to support the immune system.
Ingredients for approximately 4 servings:
- 1c. Organic whole milk plain or vanilla yogurt
- 1c. Organic orange juice
- 1 pack Sambazon açaí
- 4 tsp. Elderberry syrup (not for kids under 1)
- 1-1/2 frozen bananas
- 1c. Frozen fruit (mango, strawberries, mixed berries)
Optional add-ins for your immune support smoothie:
After I’ve poured the smoothie into each cup, I mix in the appropriate amount of Mary Ruth’s Zinc drops so that each person gets the amount they need to support their immune system. You can do the same with the Elderberry syrup instead of adding it to the blender.
What is the best blender for smoothies?
To make my smoothies, I use my Vitamix 5200, which we have had since 2014. Though they’re relatively expensive, we use it often and it is built to last.
Which cups do you use for kids’ smoothies?
I put the kids’ smoothies in recycled plastic cups with straws by RePlay. We have purchased many of their products, including plates, utensils, and sippy cups. They’re so durable and the sippy cups have a simple design, are easy to clean, and also don’t spill (unless launched across the room, of course). The sippy cups can even transition into cups with straws – just purchase the lids/straws and recycle the sippy tops. I love all the color choices and the fact that they are made from recycled milk jugs! This is not a sponsored post. I just really like this company.
